Discussion of fees and finances –

A second hearing/workshop concerning the Piedmont Community Pool will be held by the Piedmont Recreation Commission on Wednesday, February 15, at the City Council Chambers, 120 Vista Avenue, beginning at 7:30pm.  The pool  has been under management of the City of Piedmont Recreation Department since July 1, 2011.

Discussion on February 15 will include:

  • proposed fee schedule for use, including Passes and Gate Fees.  (Such a fee schedule is subject to City Council approval upon a recommendation from the Recreation Commission.)
  • financial report on pool operations
  • staff recommendations for the 2012 – 2013 budget

A previous meeting was held in January on recommendations for modifications to the pool use schedule, operations and improvements, and pool use patterns. Issues discussed were the back-to-back use of the pool by the High School Swim Team and the Water Polo Teams on weekdays from 3 to 7:30 p.m.  Lap swimming and some recreational swim were proposed to be  scheduled from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.  Other minor schedule changes were also  covered. No final decisions or actions were taken by the Recreation Commission at this meeting

Further meetings of the Recreation Commission will be scheduled, based on public comment and at the discretion of the Commission.

Public Comment is invited and encouraged at these hearings, particularly from Pool Pass Holders and regular swim pool clients.   Written comments may be submitted to the Piedmont Recreation Commission in care of Dick Hunt, Chairman, 358 Hillside Avenue, Piedmont, CA., 94611.

A staff report for the February 15 meeting will be available for public review on the city web site (www.ci.piedmont.ca.us) by 5:00pm on Friday, February 10.  Copies will also be available at the Recreation Department offices or the Pool offices.
