One Response to “Pool Advisory Meeting July 12”

  1. Griffin, the project manager for the pool project, suggested a LEED silver design might be achievable for the pool. LEED is a set of building sustainability standards developed by the US Green Building Council twenty years ago that encourage the use of energy efficiency systems and reusable building materials in new construction. Piedmont is obligated to build to the level of LEED bronze. These older standards don’t account for the type of energy used; that is GHG producing or renewable. The most up to date standard put out by the USGBC is LEED Zero, whereby renewable energy is generated on site.

The city has yet to hire the architect/design firm that will design the pool to the appropriate LEED standard. Hopefully Council will chose a firm with experience with LEED Zero and net zero design.
