Piedmont Geology is Focus of Walk

Check out Piedmont’s Rock Formations-

Have you ever wondered about the different types and formations of rock in Piedmont?  Now, you can take a self-guided walk through town and identify notable rock types.

The March 19 issue of Oakland Geology  includes  a recommended walk, beginning and ending at the Exedra in Piedmont Park.  The route covers some hills, paths and, of course, secret stairs in Piedmont that follow one of the routes in Charles Fleming’s Secret Stairs of the East Bay.   The Oakland Geology article documents the walk with maps, photos and text that relate the history, describe the geology, and call attention to swales and ridges, as well as man-made landscape features.

This is a perfect time to take a spring walk in our community to enjoy the blooming flora. Read the article.
