    According to a partial rough transcription of a presentation by Mr. Delventhal to the Piedmont Recreation Commission (see below), the City has already authorized work on what he refers to as an “addendum” to the Blair Park EIR.  As you know the terms “addendum” and “supplemental” have very different meanings under CEQA, and for those of us who are familiar with CEQA and are following this project, it is confusing to hear that the City has begun the “addendum” process, but has not yet made a determination as to whether an addendum or supplemental is required.  > Click to read more…

Piedmont Police Department

The City of Piedmont will be participating in the safe disposal of drugs, the “National Prescription Drug Take Backon Saturday, October 29th.   Members of the public can drop off expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications, no questions asked, into a drop box at the Piedmont Police Department lobby on Highland Avenue between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  This event is sponsored by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). > Click to read more…

Urgent Public Safety Dispatch from the Police Department –

The City of Piedmont has just recorded its third robbery for this month [October].  This morning a victim talking on a cell phone was robbed of her purse at gunpoint.  The robbery took place on Oakland Avenue at Sunnyside Avenue, the same location where an earlier robbery took place, when that victim was asked for directions. > Click to read more…

No Damage Reported From Thursday Quake

Thieves Robbing Piedmont Residents on the Street

The Piedmont Police Department is advising citizens not to wear gold-colored jewelry in public. The City of Piedmont has recorded two strong-arm robberies in a three-day period where the victims gold-colored jewelery was targeted.   > Click to read more…

City Council approves “final” preliminary undegrounding audit report

 At its meeting on Monday, Oct. 17,  the City Council unanimously accepted the Preliminary Report of the Audit Subcommittee on the 2009 problems associated with the Piedmont Hills Underground Utility District (PHUUD),  which resulted in the expenditure of approximately $2.3 million in City funds.  > Click to read more…

Citizen complains about noise from Witter Field and Lamorinda films leaf blowers in Piedmont

It’s fall leaf season and athletic teams are in high gear.  That means noise from leaf blowers and neighborhood concerns about noise pollution.  Lamorinda Patch reporter Russel Albert Daniels visited Piedmont, Orinda, Los Altos, and  Mill Valley to report on the noise of leaf blowers in communities that have controls on sources of noise pollution.  Watch leaf blowing and interviews with Piedmonters and others on the Lamorinda video.

There were two evenings/nights (October 6th and 7th) of extremely loud noise from the Witter Field (Piedmont High School) football field public address system.  Thursday’s game went on until 9:30 p.m.  The loud, blaring music and announcer voices could be clearly heard in our home with all of our windows closed and our TV on. > Click to read more…

Predictions of City management costs of community pool proved overly optimistic
